Medical Disclaimer
Last updated: August 6, 2026
We'd rather say this plainly on its own page than bury it in a footnote.
Lucina Wrap™ is not a medical device
Lucina Wrap™ is a wearable comfort and wellness product. It has not been evaluated or cleared by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. It is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any disease or medical condition, including de Quervain's tenosynovitis, carpal tunnel syndrome, tendonitis or arthritis.
Everything on this site — product pages, FAQs, blog posts, emails, customer reviews — is for general information. None of it is medical advice, and none of it replaces a conversation with a doctor, physiotherapist, hand therapist or lactation consultant who can actually examine you.
Third-party testing
Lucina Wrap™ has been independently third-party tested by an accredited laboratory for safety and product verification. The testing covered photobiological safety, electromagnetic compatibility, wavelength accuracy, and restricted hazardous substances.
- Photobiological safety: Exempt / safest applicable classification.
- Electromagnetic compatibility: Passed.
- Wavelength verification: Confirmed to specification.
- Restricted substances: All results below legal limits.
These results apply only to the tested samples and model referenced in the laboratory report. They do not mean the product diagnoses, treats, cures, or prevents any medical condition.
What we're honestly claiming
Warmth, light compression and support can feel good on a sore wrist, and Lucina Wrap™ is designed so you can have that while you're holding your baby rather than only when your hands are free. That is the claim.
We're not claiming it heals tendons or shortens recovery. Research on red and near-infrared light for tendon pain is promising but not conclusive, and we're not going to overstate it. Individual results vary, and testimonials on this site are individual experiences, not typical or guaranteed outcomes.
Talk to your provider first if
- You are pregnant, or recovering from surgery on the hand, wrist or arm.
- You have reduced sensation or circulation in your hand — from neuropathy, diabetes, Raynaud's or nerve injury — because you may not feel warmth building up.
- You have been prescribed a splint or brace. Lucina Wrap™ does not immobilise your thumb or wrist and is not a substitute for one.
- You take medication that increases light or heat sensitivity (some antibiotics, retinoids, St John's wort, certain acne and blood pressure medications).
- You have a skin condition, an active infection, an open wound, a rash, or any mole or lesion on the area.
- You have a history of skin cancer, or any undiagnosed lump on the wrist or hand.
- You have an implanted electronic device near the area.
- You have a photosensitive condition such as lupus or porphyria, or a history of seizures triggered by light.
Using it safely
- Follow the timer settings. Don't run repeated back-to-back sessions to "speed things up".
- Wear it over skin that is clean, dry and intact.
- Don't wear it while asleep, and don't use it while it is charging.
- Don't apply it over numb skin, or together with topical heat rubs, patches or numbing creams.
- It should feel warm and soothing, never hot. If your skin reddens beyond a mild flush, stings, blisters, or if pain increases, take it off and stop using it.
- Don't look directly into the LEDs.
- It is for adults. It is not for babies or children, and it should never be placed on your baby.
- Keep it away from water. It is not waterproof.
See a doctor promptly if
Your pain is severe, waking you constantly, or getting worse rather than better; you have numbness, tingling or weakness that doesn't pass; you can't grip or lift; there is swelling with redness and heat, or you have a fever; you have any sudden loss of movement, or pain that followed a fall or injury.
If you think you have a medical emergency, call 911 or go to your nearest emergency room. Do not wait, and do not email us first.
Postpartum mental health
Being in constant pain while caring for a newborn is hard in ways that go beyond the wrist. If you are struggling, please talk to your provider. In the U.S. you can call or text the National Maternal Mental Health Hotline at 1-833-TLC-MAMA (1-833-852-6262), free and confidential, 24/7. For any mental health crisis, call or text 988.
Liability
By using Lucina Wrap™ you accept that you do so at your own discretion and risk, and that Lucina is not liable for any outcome arising from use contrary to this disclaimer or the instructions supplied with the product. This does not limit any liability that cannot lawfully be limited.
